Rachel Nuñez is a yoga teacher, dancer and dance teacher based in Astoria, Queens. Originally from Stowe, Vermont, Rachel graduated with a B.A. in Dance and Sociology from Middlebury College. Since moving to New York, she has been fortunate to work and perform with Machine H Dance, Mark Lamb Dance and RoCM Dance, among other companies.
She completed her 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training through YogaWorks. She is on the Dance faculty at the Rivertown Dance Academy in Tarrytown, New York, teaches Creative Movement at Thrive Studio in Kew Gardens, and teaches Yoga at the Montessori School in Park Slope. In addition to performing with dance companies throughout the city, Rachel is also the Technical Director of Machine H Dance, and teaches Staff Yoga at MoMA PS1, where she works in the Visitor Engagement department.
As a mover and a teacher, Rachel is interested in questioning and testing movement habits and postural patterns that develop over time. She is invested in the study and practice of dance and yoga, not only as a way to strengthen and condition the body, but as a means of tuning into the physical and emotional self to promote wellness, resilience, self-reliance and peace.
